February 2010 Home Sales Data for Washoe County...

We just updated our website to include the latest home sales data for Washoe County and, as expected, it’s more of the same.  New home sales have continued to struggle in this depressed market, with nearly all of the recent sales activity occurring in the resale market.  There are far fewer qualified home buyers these days, and those who ARE shopping are almost certainly shopping on price.  With the glut of distressed (ie: short sale or bank owned) homes on the market, median transaction prices for existing homes continue to fall far below those of new homes in the area. Business Pulse...

With the help from InfoSearch International (located in Reno) the Greater Reno-Tahoe Economic Outlook Business Survey has found a new home at the Center for Regional Studies. As you may already know, the survey was sponsored by EDAWN and Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce since 2004. Because the Center for Regional Studies’ mission is to obtain, analyze, and map the very best data possible, we could not pass on the opportunity to house the survey of CEOs, executives, government leaders, and business owners’ attitudes on the economy. We also look forward to help guide future surveys with relevant and timely questions important to the region’s economy. Because primary data collection at the local level is in short supply, we are excited to engage with InfoSearch International to help fill that gap. And because our mission is to provide the best information possible for your business decisions, please take a few minutes and explore the survey results. You may just stumble on something...

Washoe County Economic Indicators — 4q09...

Few will mourn the passing of 2009 – a year marked by skyrocketing unemployment, falling home values, and rising foreclosures – but there are very few positive trends in the economy that would indicate better times are around the corner in 2010. After more than two straight years of economic malaise, the far reaching effects of this recession have taken their toll on the State’s finances, and budgets everywhere are being busted.  For Washoe County, the dramatic reduction in taxable sales revenue, gaming revenue, and property values have forced local governments into the difficult position of cutting services and staff to help bridge the gap in funding.
